Bayern's Early Grip Proves Decisive in Seoul Swelter
Bayern München turned a two-goal advantage into a 2-1 victory over Jeju United at the Jeju World Cup Stadium, establishing control inside the opening quarter-hour and never relinquishing it despite a spirited response from the K League side.
The German visitors struck twice in the first forty minutes to settle the contest. F. Chavez opened the scoring in the eleventh minute after a Della Rovere assist, then B. Assomo doubled the lead thirty minutes later from a J. Palhinha pass. Jeju pulled one back through Lee Chang-Min in the fifteenth minute - Matheus Aias providing the assist - but Bayern's early momentum proved too much to overturn.
The decisive spell came before the interval. Bayern's front line moved with purpose and precision in the opening stages, finding space in Jeju's defence and converting chances with clinical efficiency. Chavez's opener set the tone. When Assomo added the second just before half-time, Bayern had already done the heavy lifting. Jeju's equaliser came too late in that sequence to shift the balance of the half; by the time Lee Chang-Min found the net in the fifteenth minute, Bayern had already established a two-goal cushion that would prove insurmountable.
Jeju showed character in response. Lee's goal kept them in the contest and offered something for the home crowd, but Bayern's defensive shape held firm after the interval. The visitors managed the remainder of the match without serious alarm, controlling possession and limiting Jeju's chances to mount a genuine comeback. A second-half surge never materialised for the hosts.
For Bayern, the win represented a straightforward preparation fixture - the kind where early efficiency and a solid defensive foundation allow a team to coast through. For Jeju, it was a reminder of the gap between K League football and the Bundesliga elite, though Lee's goal and their willingness to press ensured they left with some credit.
