Vadim Yakovlev's 28th-minute opener set the tone for a dominant display by Naftan that Arsenal never recovered from. Vasiliy Chernyavskiy's assist found Yakovlev in space, and the Naftan forward made no mistake. That goal released the home side's attacking intent entirely. Arsenal's defence, marshalled by Andrei Zaleskiy and Dzianis Paliakou, looked uncertain from the outset and never tightened their shape after going behind.
The visitors had offered little in the opening half-hour. Artem Soroko, Arsenal's goalkeeper, was barely tested. Naftan controlled possession and territory with ease, and Chernyavskiy's creative work in midfield gave Ilya Seleznev and Golden Mafwenta room to probe down the flanks. Arsenal's midfield three - Daniel Volskiy, Nikita Kaplenko, and Vadim Tkachenko - struggled to impose themselves or shield their back four.
The damage was done inside 18 second-half minutes. Ignat Pranovich made it 2-0 in the 43rd minute, again assisted by Mafwenta, whose delivery from the wing was too good for Arsenal's fullbacks to handle. Pranovich finished clinically, and Naftan went into the interval knowing the contest was over.
Three minutes into the second half, Seleznev added a third. Mafwenty's assist again - the winger was the architect of Naftan's attacking success - allowed Seleznev to convert. By then Arsenal had conceded three times in 18 minutes across the interval. The gulf between the sides was stark.
Arsenal made no meaningful adjustments and offered no threat. Maksim Matveev and Valeriy Gorbachik operated in isolation up front, starved of service by a midfield that had surrendered control. Kaplenko and Volskiy were chasing shadows. Tkachenko tried to drive forward but found no support. The visiting defence, with Vladislav Vasiljev and Ivan Oreshkevich alongside Zaleskiy and Paliakou, was never truly troubled after the opening exchanges because Arsenal's shape had collapsed entirely.
Denys Shelikhov's goal remained untested. Naftan's back three - Andrey Stefanishin, Alexey Tumanov, and Andrei Lebedev - were comfortable, and Aleksandr Savitskiy and Chernyavskiy controlled the tempo in midfield.
This was a complete performance from Naftan. Arsenal arrived at Atlant Stadium and left with nothing, outplayed in every department. The home side's movement was sharp, their transitions quick, and their finishing efficient. Once Yakovlev broke through, Arsenal had no answer.
