Spezia took a point from their trip to Empoli, drawing 1-1 in their most recent outing. The Liguria-based club showed enough to avoid defeat on the road, though they were unable to find a winning goal against their Tuscan hosts.
The draw leaves Spezia with a mixed result to build from. One goal conceded and one scored suggests they matched their opponents across 90 minutes, though neither side could break clear. For a team looking to climb the table, holding their own away from home is a foundation, but points dropped to sides they might expect to beat could prove costly as the season progresses.
