Sabah FA face a testing run of fixtures that will expose where they stand against elite opposition. Two scheduled meetings with Manchester United and Arsenal bookend a heavy defeat to Persib Bandung, where they conceded three goals without reply.
The 3-0 loss to Persib Bandung is the only completed match in their recent schedule. Sabah were outclassed, offering no resistance across the ninety minutes. Upcoming are fixtures against Manchester United and Arsenal - both among Europe's highest-ranked clubs and a significant step up in quality from their Indonesian Super League rivals.
The sequence of matches will tell whether Sabah can compete at this level or whether the gap is too wide to bridge. Against Persib, they found none of the answers needed. The Manchester United and Arsenal tests will be far sterner.
