Botswana

Botswana's recent campaign has been mixed, with a solitary win offset by a heavy defeat and an abandoned fixture that offered neither side a result.

Recent Form

The national side secured a 1-0 victory over Malawi, a narrow win that at least provided a measure of control in a competitive match. That result, however, sits uncomfortably alongside a 3-0 loss to Congo DR, a comprehensive defeat that exposed significant gaps in their defensive setup. An earlier fixture against Angola was abandoned, leaving Botswana without a clear reading of where they stand against that opponent.

One win from three outings tells an incomplete story. The victory over Malawi suggests Botswana can compete and finish chances when opportunities arise, but the Congo DR thrashing raises urgent questions about their ability to contain stronger sides. Conceding three goals without response indicates structural problems that will need addressing quickly.

The abandoned match against Angola remains a frustration - a chance to build momentum lost to circumstances beyond the team's control. For Botswana to progress, they will need to replicate the discipline shown against Malawi while tightening their shape defensively. The Congo DR result cannot be dismissed as a one-off; it demands a response in their next fixture.
