AEK Larnaca came away empty-handed from their trip to Amsterdam, losing 1-0 to Ajax in what was a narrow defeat against one of Europe's established sides. The Cypriot club conceded a single goal and could not find a way past Ajax's defence, leaving them with nothing from the fixture.
The loss to Ajax represents a setback for the club. They were unable to breach Ajax's backline and failed to register a goal of their own, which will be a concern heading into their next assignment. The defeat came on the road against a team with significant European pedigree, but AEK will need to improve their attacking output if they are to pick up points in their upcoming matches.
