Alex Carey is Australia's left-handed wicketkeeper who has accumulated 9,575 runs across 150 ODI appearances. He operates as a specialist gloveman in the middle order, combining his primary role behind the stumps with a batting average that has made him a regular fixture in Australia's one-day setup.
Carey's career has been built on consistency rather than flash. His left-handed approach at the crease provides balance to Australian lineups, and his ability to keep wicket while maintaining a run-scoring threat has been central to his selection across multiple formats.
The South Australian has represented his country across all three formats, though his ODI record forms the backbone of his international resume. His tally of nearly 9,600 runs places him among Australia's more prolific wicketkeeper-batsmen in the format's history.
Carey's role has evolved as Australia has cycled through different captaincy and coaching regimes, but his dual skills have kept him in contention. Whether as a steadying presence in the middle order or a match-winner lower down, he has been called upon to fill various roles depending on team requirements and opposition conditions.
