Match Report

West Indies Women won the third ODI at Bready by 64 runs, taking a commanding position in the series with a disciplined batting display and disciplined bowling performance.

Stafanie Taylor anchored the West Indies innings with 105 off 113 balls, a composed century that provided the backbone for her side's total of 257 all out from their 50 overs. Aaliyah Alleyne contributed 33 off 30 and Jahzara Claxton added 30 off 43 as the visitors built a competitive total on a pitch that offered something to both bat and ball.

Ireland's bowling attack made inroads throughout. Orla Prendergast took 2 for 37 and Georgina Dempsey claimed 2 for 61, but the West Indies' middle order proved difficult to dislodge completely.

Chasing 258, Ireland made a poor fist of it. Gaby Lewis top-scored with 50 off 59 balls, showing some resistance in the middle order, while Leah Paul made 32 off 47 and Amy Hunter struck 30 off 36. But the innings lacked cohesion and the batting order crumbled around them.

Karishma Ramharack and Afy Fletcher were the architects of Ireland's collapse, each taking 3 for 33. The pair's combined six-wicket haul proved too much for the home side to overcome. Ireland were dismissed for 193 in 43.1 overs, falling 64 runs short.

The West Indies' bowling was economical and disciplined. They strangled the Irish batting by maintaining pressure throughout, forcing mistakes and capitalising on lapses in concentration. There was no partnership of substance for Ireland; Lewis's half-century came too late to spark a meaningful recovery.

Key Performers

Taylor's century was the standout individual performance of the match. She batted with authority without taking unnecessary risks, building her innings methodically and providing the platform from which the West Indies could push towards a defendable total.

For Ireland, Lewis at least offered a glimpse of what might have been. Her 50 was made against a disciplined bowling attack, but she lacked meaningful support from the batsmen around her. The failure of the middle order to build partnerships proved costly.

Ramharack and Fletcher's three-wicket hauls were the difference between a competitive chase and a one-sided affair. Both bowlers executed their plans with precision, and their spells effectively ended Ireland's hopes.

What It Means

The West Indies have seized control of the series. A 64-run victory is emphatic, and it reflects a team that executed their plans better than their opponents across all three disciplines. Ireland will need to regroup quickly if they are to salvage anything from the remaining fixtures.
