Wrexham's path to the Champions League Women's final is secure after they beat Pyunik 4-2 in a semi-final at the Racecourse Ground that swung decisively in their favour during a 20-minute spell in the second half.
A. Suckley's goal in the 63rd minute proved the crucial blow. Wrexham had already taken control through L. Jones's strike on 50 minutes, and when Suckley added a third, Pyunik's hopes of overturning a two-goal deficit looked bleak. The Armenian side did pull one back through L. Ghazaryan just a minute later, but they never got closer. N. Thomas wrapped up the win in the 90th minute to confirm Wrexham's place in the final.
The opening exchanges belonged to Pyunik. S. Badalyan fired them ahead in the ninth minute with A. Karapetyan providing the assist, and for a moment the visitors looked capable of troubling Wrexham throughout. That advantage lasted two minutes. K. Barker equalised on 11 minutes, with F. Hillier-Knox credited with the assist, and the hosts never trailed again.
Wrexham controlled the first half after Barker's leveller, but neither side managed to break through again before the interval. The second period, though, belonged entirely to the home side. Jones made it 2-1 on the hour, and the momentum shift was complete. Suckley's goal 13 minutes later effectively ended the contest, even if Ghazaryan's response kept Pyunik mathematically alive for a brief spell.
Thomas's late goal secured a comfortable winning margin and sent Wrexham through to face whoever emerges from the other semi-final. For Pyunik, a bright start and Ghazaryan's second-half goal offered glimpses of what they might have achieved, but they were ultimately outplayed across the 90 minutes by a side that grew stronger as the match wore on.
